Accessibility Service

Coldscroll is a closed-beta focus app. This is not an accessibility tool for people with disability. We use Android’s Accessibility Service only to lock apps you chose.

What it is used for

When a lock, schedule, or used-up daily limit is active, the service watches which app came to the foreground (the package name). If that app is on your list, Coldscroll shows its own lock screen.

The service listens to window-state changes only. It cannot retrieve window content. It does not tap buttons, perform gestures, or change other apps’ settings.

What it does not do

• Does not read page content or what is on the screen.
• Does not read keystrokes, passwords you type, or the clipboard.
• Does not read notification bodies or web URLs.
• Does not scrape other apps or act as a screen reader.

What leaves the phone

The package name is used on the device to decide whether to show the lock. If you set a daily limit, we also send that package name and elapsed seconds to our own API on Fly (Sydney) so remaining time can be enforced. We do not sell that data. Privacy policy: coldscroll.com/privacy.

Consent

First launch can show a skippable screen that says Accessibility is how Coldscroll blocks listed apps when they open, and that it does not read page content. Skip, and the app still opens — locks just will not enforce until you turn the service on. In Android settings it is labelled Coldscroll blocker.

Not this permission

Usage access (Insights / remaining minutes) and optional device admin (uninstall friction in strict mode) are separate. They are not the Accessibility Service.
